Dr. Wilmink started WiseWear to develop wearable devices that would allow users to alert their loved ones in times of potential danger.

Dr. Wilmink presently serves on the Board of Directors at Life Recovery Systems, a medical device business, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He also serves as an advisor for TechStars, and a handful of innovative startups. Jerry also is an advisor and panel review member for our country’s National Academy of Sciences NRC program, SMART, and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Programs (NDSEG).

Dr. Wilmink has former experience as a start-up business consultant for venture capital firms, and a program manager for the Department of Defense’s $3 SBIR program. Jerry earned a BS, MS, and PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, and an MBA from McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. In 2015, Jerry was selected for San Antonio’s 40 Under 40 award and was awarded membership into the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC).
