Dr. Yan Chow is Director of Kaiser Permanente’s Innovation & Advanced Technology Group, which assesses new information technologies that will impact health care in the coming decade. IAT leverages the Garfield Innovation Center, a 37,000-sf care delivery simulation lab that houses future designs for the hospital, clinic, and home, where new technologies and workflows are tested without risk to patient safety or operations.
Besides practicing medicine, Dr. Chow has managed regional operational and experimental IT systems. He has also founded a number of technology startups, and owns 3 U.S. patents. Dr. Chow earned his AB from Harvard and MD from UC San Diego. In 2005 he received his MBA from UC Berkeley as valedictorian.
